Gripping a bottle of Henny, controversial musician, Kanye West may just have been walking the Green Mile to the execution of his once vibrant career, at last night’s MTV VMA Awards.  By now, we have all heard the story of Kanye West stealing the limelight from 19 year old country singer, Taylor Swift. 

However, I want to discuss what prompted West’s actions.  Many rumors are flying regarding Kanye and the VMA’s.  Some say the whole incident was staged, and others are saying that Kanye was buzzed from the Hennessy.  I will admit that things looked a little ’staged’ to me.   West just kind of magically appeared on the stage with Taylor.  MTV and Kanye have always had a … shall we say … turbulent relationship, but would they use him as a pawn to drive up ratings?  The real question is this:  Would they use him, while getting back at him, for some of his past infamous tirades against the struggling network?

If this is indeed the case, I feel sorry for West.  I know when you are young, rich and powerful, it’s easy to feel like you can do no wrong, but we all have to answer to someone.  Ask Chris Brown.  If Kanye was in on the ruse, I’m sure he had no idea things would play out the way they have in the past 24 hours.  After leaving the award show with his girlfriend, Amber Rose, Kanye posted a loud and insincere apology to Taylor on his official blog, while still insisting that Beyonce had the best music video of the century.  Um, ok….

By the time the sun rose in NYC, what might have been a funny gag to Kanye last night, had evolved into a serious issue.  Taylor Swift fans rallied against West all night long, and even insiders are saying Kanye went too far this time.  Will the mainstream media be done with him after this stunt?  After all, this was the first MTV VMA Award for the 19 year old singer.  She did indeed deserve her moment… and this was no fued between Kanye and Fifty, if you get what I mean.  

But, if MTV put Kanye up to this, they are even more despicable than he is.   After all, if MTV was truly concerned about Swift’s feelings, they could have edited the whole unpleasant experience out.  But if your looking to have someone else do your dirty work for you, while getting rid of him, well that’s another story ….

All conspiracy theories aside, are ratings more important than human beings?
